'The Big Bang Theory' Season 8 Spoilers: Big Changes on the Horizon for Penny

After some delay, production on "The Big Bang Theory" began on Aug. 8 after contract negotiations have been completed. As previously reported, leads Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, Jim Parsons and Johnny Galecki each got a hefty raise amounting to $1 million per episode.

Simon Helberg and Kunnal Nuyar have also gotten new six-figure deals for themselves, and Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rausch have both bumped up their current $20,000 to $30,000 per episode to possibly $60,000, according to Deadline.

With the negotiations out of the way, the cast and crew are now busy filming episodes for the new season, and now speculations are on the rise about season eight's story lines and what's in store for all the characters of the hit CBS show.

So far no plot lines have been revealed, but it has been reported that Penny (Cuoco-Sweeting) is about to experience some major changes in her life.

At the end of season 7, Leonard (Galecki) popped the question to Penny after she was fired from her acting job. Filled with excitement, she admitted that being fired was the best thing that ever happened to her and she needs "to start making smart decisions."

Show creator Chuck Lorre said that Penny will resolve to earn money.

"She is going to start making some money," said Lorre to reporters at the Television Critics Association. "She's going to find some confidence and self-esteem, which acting does not provide in great heaping doses."

Lorre revealed that Penny will start working as a pharmaceutical rep at Bernadette's (Rausch) company. As it turns out, the new job will come with a nice paycheck that could potentially create friction between her and Leonard.

The series has not been plotted out in its entirety for season 8, as the show runners prefer to take a wait-and-see approach to storytelling. However, Lorre said that the show will keep its core focus on the growth of its key players and relationships.

"The Big Bang Theory" Season 8 premieres on Sept. 22 on CBS.
