Big Bang Theory Season 8 Premiere Date, Spoilers: First 2 Episode Plots Revealed, Opens With Back-to-Back Episodes

Season 7 of "The Big Bang Theory" ended with Leonard (Johnny Galecki) proposing to Penny (Kaley Cuoco), while Sheldon (Jim Parsons) was seen heading out of town on a train. What's in store for everybody when the show returns for its eight season this month?

Show runner Steve Molaro revealed some choice spoilers at the San Diego Comic Con, and said that the new season will start 45 days after the events of the season 7 finale.

"He's [Sheldon] gone for 45 days, and it doesn't end as well as he'd like with him having all his belongings stolen while he was asleep in the sleeper car," said Molaro to Hollywood Reporter.

The first episode, titled "The Locomotive Interruption," will see Leonard and Amy (Mayim Bialik) going out to get Sheldon back, and Molaro reveals that there will be a second kiss between Sheldon and Amy, also noting that Sheldon will be "kinder and gentler" this time around because of what he experienced on the train.

Meanwhile, the show's second episode, titled "The Junior Professor Solution" will feature a disagreement between Sheldon and Howard, while Penny and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) will hit a rough patch because of their new working relationship. It has been previously reported that the new season will see Penny forsaking all her dreams of being an actress, and to earn some money, she decides to work for Bernadette's pharmaceutical company instead.

"When Sheldon is forced to teach a class, Howard surprises everyone by taking it. Meanwhile, the tension between Penny and Bernadette gives Amy a chance to play both sides," the synopsis reads.

"The Big Bang Theory" Season 8 premieres with episodes 1 and 2 on Monday, Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
