'The Blacklist' season 3 plot news: Tom Keen returns

Details for the upcoming season of "The Blacklist" were released, revealing what Tom Keen, played by Ryan Eggold, will be up to, while his wife, Liz Keen, played by Megan Boone, has now become a fugitive.

It was reported that Tom will be back for the upcoming episodes but faced with a different perspective concerning his relationship with Liz. Executive producer Jon Bokenkamp stated that their relationship will be seen in a different light for season 3.

He stated, "They're completely flipped in who they are and almost also in the way they approach the situation — she's now feeling the desperation of being a criminal and trying to operate in the shadows, and he's trying to come clean and trying to redeem himself in her eyes. Tom was sailing off to white sands and blue beaches and felt it was over. What he doesn't know is she assassinated the attorney general of the United States. When he catches wind of this, he'll have something to say about it and will not want to sit back."

The last season saw the two planning to run away together to start a new life. However, Liz changed her mind and was determined to aid Red in fighting the Cabal. With that, Tom left on his boat without knowing that Liz had killed Attorney General Tom Connolly, played by Reed Birney.

Another executive producer John Eisendrath shared with TVLine that while the season is expected to have a different vibe compared to the past season, it will still have several new additions to the blacklist. He also shared that the season will answer more questions from the previous season. He said, "In the course of 22 episodes, we will of course give more answers about the past. But at the moment the season opens, we are focused entirely on the present."

The Blacklist season 3 is expected to premiere on Oct. 1.
