The CW's New 'iZombie' Series Plot Spoilers, News, Details: A Different Take on Everything That is Zombie

Loosely based on a DC Comics series of the same name, The CW's upcoming TV show "iZombie" is said to offer a refreshing twist on anything that is known about the flesh-and-brain hungry fictional creatures.

An interview took place during the Television Critics Association winter press tour this Friday. Joining executive producer Diane Ruggiero-Wright, show creator Rob Thomas and the iZombie cast spoke about the The CW's upcoming offering.

"It wasn't a part of the comics, but it's something we really enjoyed about the show. If there were a zombie attack, what would you do?" Ruggiero-Wright said during the panel (via The Wrap). "I would watch 'The Walking Dead' and pick up a lot of useful tips."

Taking hints from what the executive producer said, "iZombie" is expected to take a different approach on the already popular post-apocalyptic zombie genre.

To prepare the channel's TV-goers, a trailer and synopsis for the show was released. As found out, the new drama centers on Olivia "Liv" Moore (Rose McIver), a medical student who turned into a zombie after attending a wrong party.

In Liv's world, zombies need to maintain a steady diet of brains in order for them to retain their intelligence as well as human-like demeanor. Failure to do so would have them end up like that of the usual slow-moving, witless undead creatures.

To gain a steady source of her "food," Liv resorted to work at a morgue. There, she can have all the dead-human brains she wants.

The twist of the story seeps in when the show's heroine realizes that she retains some flashes of memories of the owners of the brains.

To make good use of her newfound ability, Liv poses as a psychic to help detective Clive Babineaux and Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti discover the identities of the missing Does as well find the root cause behind the infection.

As announced, "iZombie" will premiere on Tuesday, Mar. 17, at 9 p.m. on The CW.
