'The Evil Within 2' Latest News: Bethesda Releases New Launch Trailer

Just in time for the release of "The Evil Within 2" this Friday the 13th, Bethesda unveiled the game's launch trailer that is nothing short of shocking.

The trailer features the game's protagonist, Sebastian Castellanos, and his encounters with different kinds of creatures coming from STEM, bringing "unspeakable horrors." One of the key encounters features a young little girl, supposedly her daughter, Lily, who appears to have been lashed.

Game developer Bethesda said in a presser via Gamasutra that the game revolves around Castellanos' personal mission of searching for his daughter, Lily, "who he thought he had lost many years ago, and it's now a race against time as the world crumbles around him. Sebastian must rescue Lily before everything falls apart and they are both lost in STEM."

Moreover, the developer also confirmed that the hideous creatures are just part of the many different challenges the hero will be facing in his quest. "STEM is a world that can be bent and broken to the will of a few particularly deranged individuals. And the real horror may be the human monsters trapped inside, with the twisted photographer Stefano and the 'righteous' priest Theodore both intent on warping the weakened system to their will," the press release added.

Meanwhile, TrustedReviews reported that "The Evil Within 2" will give players a larger scale and scope in terms of exploring the massive area of Union. It also hailed the game's many different secrets that players can uncover in Union. The game, however, has a lot of cut scenes that could possibly affect its remarkable level of horror.

"The Evil Within 2" is a sequel to "The Evil Within" that first came out on 2014. It is a brainchild of video game director and producer Shinji Mikami who traces the beginning of his illustrious career back in 1990 when he worked with Capcom.

He would eventually go on to direct the first "Resident Evil" game in 1996 and the first "Dino Crisis" in 1999. He eventually transferred to PlatinumGames where he directed "Vanquish" in 2010, before building his own studio, Tango Gameworks.
