'The Flash' season 2 episode 20: Who is the Man in the Iron Mask?

The identity of The Man in the Iron Mask on "The Flash" season two has completely obsessed and preoccupied its viewers. And the fact that it will only be revealed during this season's upcoming season finale this month has only increased the fascination of some in reasoning out who it could possibly be. Theories have explained why one or another character may or may not be The Man in the Iron Mask. It remains that, in the end, the only satisfying way fans and audiences of "The Flash" will find out is through the reveal, as there is a background story which is necessary to know in order to work out the answer as well as understand why the character is The Man in the Iron Mask. Carlos Valdes, the actor who plays Cisco Ramon on the series, shared his reactions upon finding out the identity of The Man in the Iron Mask.

Valdes tells IGN, "There's an element that's missing that people don't know about yet in which people won't find out about until the Man in the Iron Mask is unmasked."

The actor went on to explain that it is relevant to know how the character got locked up in Zoom's cell and Zoom's reasons for doing so. Until then, there is no way of understanding why the character was masked. He also shared that he believes the explanation is very satisfying, a fantastic story, taking into account Zoom's chronology, his story as well as his motivations.

The identity of the Man in the Iron Mask has been such a big mystery. Probably the only sure thing about The Man in the Iron Mask that people know about is that he is blonde ("Escape from Earth-2" episode) and that he is not someone people expect him to be. The only blonde characters on the show are Hunter Zolomon, Eddie Thawne, Henry Allen, and Eobard Thawne.

"The Flash" series executive producer Andrew Kreisberg was also asked to tease the identity of the mystery Man in the Iron Mask and he merely shared that "the answer is going to blow your mind …"

The season finale---besides the big reveal which co-showrunner Aaron Helbing says the audience will not see coming---will also feature a showdown most probably between Barry Allen and Zoom. The showrunner Todd Helbig said that finale will be vastly emotionally driven, "But the vastness of the showdown is pretty epic."

In the meantime, the next episode up is entitled "Rupture." The story will cover Zoom going back to Earth-1 with a plan to take over Central City. Barry and Wells also have a plan to stop the villain but, being unsure whether to take the risk, he consults both Henry and Joe, who give opposing opinions on the plan, with Henry being against Barry's risking his life to carry it out and Joe believing Barry can do it.

Also in this episode is Cisco, who vibes his brother Dante's counterpart on Earth-2, Rupture, whose purpose for being on the planet is to seek justice for the death of Reverb. On a lighter side, Iris is prepared to confront Barry about her feelings for him.

"The Flash" will air next on May 3 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
