'The Fosters' Season 4 Finale Spoilers & Updates: Callie & Mariana are in Great Danger – Will Freeform Family Drama End with a Death of a Major Character?

The ominous previews of "Collateral Damage," the tenth and final episode of the fourth season of "The Fosters" hinted that one character will say goodbye. With Callie (Maia Mitchell) and Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) entangled into dangers and troubles in the past episodes, will the summer finale tonight kill one of the girls?

Callie & Her Nancy Drew-Like Antics

In the previous episodes of the Freeform family drama, Callie embroiled herself and her family in great danger after she bravely took it upon herself to gather the DNA evidence needed to reopen Kyle's (Adam Irigoyen) case. Kyle is Callie's former foster brother who was sentenced for the murder he did not commit.

Callie's investigation led her to the house of the suspected murderer, where she later decided to break in and steal the suspect's toothbrush. In Episode 9, Callie successfully managed to get out of the house with the possible DNA evidence, but the suspect noticed her escaping. The suspect followed Callie and eventually learned where her family lives.

The official description of the season ender mentioned that Callie's determination to advocate for both Jack (‎Tanner Buchanan) and Kyle will lead her in a dangerous situation. This hints that the show could end with a disaster for Callie.

Mariana & Her Addiction

Just like Callie, Mariana is also in great danger after it was revealed last week that she developed an addiction with Jesus' (Noah Centineo) ADHD medication. In addition to the addiction, the middle Adams-Foster daughter will also deal with the return of his boyfriend Nick (Louis Hunter) who will be coming home after getting treatment from a psychiatric facility.

Peter Paige, executive producer of the LGBT-themed family drama, told TV Guide that Mariana is in the worst shape and on the verge of a real profound meltdown. He teased that the finale will unveil the consequences of Mariana's addiction and wrong decisions.

According to Sarah Long of SheKnows, there is a big possibility that the fourth season will end in disaster with Mariana. She also added that the series will probably leave with a crazy cliffhanger because there's no way that Mariana's mounting problems can be resolved in one episode.

More Dramas

Aside from the possible disaster, per TV Line, "The Fosters" season finale will feature the return of Callie's sister Sophia (Bailee Madison). There will also be a confrontation between AJ (Tom Williamson) and Mike (Danny Nucci). The summer finale of the Freeform family drama will air tonight, Aug. 29 at 8/7c.
