'The Last Of Us 2' Update: Will Reported Sequel Have A New Name?

Ever since its successful release back in 2013, fans of Naughty Dog's hit post apocalyptic game "The Last Of Us" have been begging for a sequel to happen.

Over the past few years, rumors sprouted here and there pointing out to the purported plans of the studio to release the most awaited installment.

The past few months, information came directly from one of the cast members. Nolan North, who gave voice to the character David in the original game, revealed that a sequel really might be on the pipeline.

"I know they're doing a Last of Us 2," the actor said during a Q&A panel at the 2015 MetroCon, according to GameRant.com.

North, however, recently retracted the hopeful statement. As quoted over at MovieNewsGuide.com, he said, "I apologize to 'Last of Us' fans because I certainly don't know and that's the truth."

Despite the clarification, the hype for a new installment doesn't die down among loyal fans who are patiently waiting for it.

Speculations said that Naughty Dog might still be preoccupied as they are getting ready to roll out their newest shooting game offering, "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," which is slated to hit the store shelves this April. After the release, the game maker might begin working on "The Last of Us 2" project.

Those who are keeping tabs on the updates are also hoping that an official statement will be released in the coming months.

For the meantime, it has been thought lately that the upcoming game might be renamed.

In a report from Lawyer Herald, it has been suggested that Part 2 might instead have a working title of "Days Gone."

The news item got picked up by the web quickly and it sprung a host of theories. It is now believed that Naughty Dog might feature a prequel of the events that transpired in the first game. Others also mentioned a storyline focusing on Tommy, Joel's brother.

At this point, every bit of information should be taken with a grain of salt. Stay tuned for more updates.
