The Last of Us 2 Rumors, News Update: Ex-Naughty Dog Developer's Resume Shows Sequel

The sequel to Naughty Dog's massively successful action-survival game "The Last of Us" could already be in development, according to reports.

The information was revealed "inadvertently" through the resume of a former Naughty Dog lead character artist Michael Knowland, Gamespot.com reported. As what has been revealed through Knowland's LinkedIn profile, the studio had produced prototype head sculpts that are intended to be used in "The Last of Us 2" earlier this year.

His profile states that he had been working with Naughty Dog since October 2011 in which his projects included "all things main and NPC characters" of the first "The Last of Us" as well as for "Uncharted 4" where he worked to upgrade the physical aspects of the title's main character Nathan Drake.

From July of this year to the present, Knowland is apparently connected with Avalanche Studios as senior character artist where he is working on "Just Cause 3."

This information shouldn't come as a surprise for most PlayStation fans. Earlier this year, Naughty Dog boss Evan Wells admitted that the studio was prototyping other titles.

"We definitely have another project on the scale of Uncharted in very early pre-production stages," Wells told Gamepur. "We have the sizeable team that it takes to get something like that off of the ground, but it's got a long runway in front of it. We have a lot of great ideas, and some stuff that is already getting everybody jazzed and excited."

The site however noted that the real question to ask regarding this issue is whether or not "The Last of Us 2" would continue the storyline between Joel and Ellie or that fans should or shouldn't expect new characters to play in the purported upcoming title.
