'The Originals' Season 5 Spoilers: Hayley and Elijah Are End Game

There is still hope that Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies) will end up together in the upcoming final season of "The Originals."

At the San Diego Comic-Con, executive producer Julie Plec revealed to the audience that they were not closing the doors for the star-crossed lovers. While there is still a chance that Elijah and Hayley will reunite, it will not likely happen soon. First, both will have to deal with the setbacks that come with being part of the Mikaelson family. For Elijah, he is not supposed to break the pact he made with his siblings to protect Hope (who is now played by Danielle Rose Russell). As for Hayley, she is meant to stay put in New Orleans if she wants her daughter to be safe.

"I love Hayley and Elijah and I do hope they can find peace in eternity," Plec explained. "I don't know how quickly that will be able to happen, but it's not something that I take lightly."

When the CW series returns next year, spoilers reveal that Hayley will become romantically involved with a human, an Irish chef named Declan (Torrance Coombs). Elijah, on the other hand, will get a surprise visit from Marcel (Charles Michael Davis). The latter wants him to return to the city and become his pawn. Elijah will have to decide if he is willing to risk breaking his promise to his brother, Klaus (Joseph Morgan). It looks like he will, though, as the promo shows him reuniting with the hybrid.

Meanwhile, Klaus will have difficulty accepting his family's fate. It has been revealed that he will deal with the misery by going on a killing spree. Klaus will have no trouble embracing his dark side, now that his entire support system is gone. Without his siblings, he will continue to spiral downwards. Perhaps, Elijah's return will shake him to his very core and open his eyes to the truth. Klaus will also make sure that his daughter remains safe. Hope means everything to him.

"The Originals" season 5 will air sometime in 2018.
