'The Real Housewives of New York' Season 9 News, Cast Updates: RHONY star Dorinda Medley Causes Scene in Motel

Bravo's "The Real Housewives of New York" (RHONY) may have already wrapped up its eighth season recently, but that didn't stop Dorinda Medley from starting drama down at the Regency Hotel. After having a little too much to drink, the RHONY star flew into an epic meltdown worthy of the Bravo reality show. Too bad cameras weren't rolling - but the incident definitely went down in infamy.

What went down

Apparently, the RHONY star had gone in for an alcohol-friendly lunch down at the Regency alongside Harry Dubin. It isn't clear why they met, or what ignited their argument that led to the meltdown. But Dubin has had quite a history with the RHONY ladies as well, having previously been married to Aviva Drescher and dating Sonja Morgan at one point.

After a couple of drinks, eye witnesses alleged that Dorinda Medley began yelling at Dubin. An investment banker named Sylvester Miniter IV came into the picture, possibly to intervene amid the growing chaos, before Dorinda allegedly turned on Miniter - with her heels. Later on, her boyfriend John Mahdessian arrived and brought the RHONY home before she engages anyone into further altercation.

Alcohol and grief

The "Real Housewives of New York" star immediate apologized for her actions against Dubin, she denied allegations that she tried to hit the investment banker with the heels. She remained adamant that she did not try to hurt anyone, much less with a weaponized shoe. But she explained that her actions were a result of a bad mix of alcohol and grief.

According to the RHONY star's official statement on the matter, it was her late husband's birthday that day, a day which is always very difficult for her because she still loves and misses him dearly.Prior to the fateful hotel meeting, she had spent time by her grave, and later on it became too much for her to bear. The statement went on to say that the incident was actually just nothing more than a raucous during cocktail hour, and which has been unfortunately "spun" by media to make it appear more than it should have been.

Regency Hotel fiascos

This is not the first time the Regency Hotel was host to "The Real Housewives of New York" drama. It was also the same hotel in which RHONY stars Bethenny Frankel and Ramona Singer had caught Tom D'Agostino cheating on his fiancee Luann de Lesseps with a Playboy model. And it's likely this meltdown is only going to get played up soon by Medley's fellow RHONY stars, who have previously brought up her cocaine use during "The Real Housewives of New York" reunion.
