'The Voice' Season 10 News: Miley Cyrus Joins As 'Key Adviser,' Season 10 Airs February 29
Controversial pop singer Miley Cyrus is joining "The Voice" Season 10 in what she calls a "key adviser" role in the show, according to a report in The Hollywood Reporter. Cyrus took to Twitter to share the news, which was accompanied by a photo of her fooling around with one of the red buttons of the show's signature coach chairs.
According to her, she has signed on as the show's key adviser, which meant that she will be providing input to all of the four teams. As previously reported, coaches Adam Levine, Pharell Williams and Blake Shelton will return for the tenth season. Gwen Stefani is said to be taking a break this season, and former coach Christina Aguilera will be back and taking her place as one of the team's coaches. The report likened her role to that of Taylor Swift when she joined the show in 2014.
NBC Entertainment president for alternative and late night programming Paul Telegdy said this about Cyrus: "When Miley speaks everyone pays attention. Our artists are very lucky to have the benefit of her instincts and wisdom." He added, "Our viewers will be treated to an inside look at one of the brightest minds in music and the entertainment industry who is at the forefront of pop culture."

In related news, with the show's premiere night approaching, only a few opportunities for auditions are left for those who still want a shot this season. According to another report in International Business Times, there are four more days of auditions left, which is February 6 and 7 in Chicago, and finally, February 20 and 21 in Philadelphia.
As with the previous seasons, those who audition must pass several eligibility criteria, which include being at least 15 years of age as of March 28, 2016, being residents of the United States and being able to pass a background check. Once accepted into any of the teams, contestants must be willing to devote a lot of time to accommodate the show's schedules.
Season 10 of "The Voice" premieres on Monday, February 29, 8 p.m. ET/PT on the NBC network.
