'The Voice' Season 9 News: Battle Round Begins

The current season of "The Voice" is now on its Battle Round with the coaches and their teams.

The most recent episode of "The Voice" saw the teams of Gwen Stefani, Pharrell, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton preparing for the next phase of the competition. With that, the coaches had their own guest mentors to help the artists out.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it was revealed that Levine had invited John Fogerty from "Creedence Clearwater Revival," while Gwen Stefani was accompanied by Selena Gomez. Blake Shelton channeled more of a country appeal by inviting Brad Paisley, while Pharrell was joined by rapper Missy Elliot.

The episode first featured Team Adam by showing the battle between Regina Love and Jordan Smith. The two performed the song of Sam Smith, "Like I Can." When the two were rehearsing, it was evident that the battle was going to bring out the best in their voices. After delivering a powerful performance, Levine had a hard time choosing between the two. However, he ended up choosing Smith as the winner. Meanwhile, Gwen Stefani saw Love's potential and went in for the steal.

As for Blake Shelton, he featured the pair of Tyler Dickerson and Zach Seabaugh. The two performed a song by Travis Tritt titled "I'm Gonna Be Somebody." The performance showed that Seabaugh was able to command the stage more compared to Dickerson, which led to Shelton picking him as the winner.

From Gwen Stefani's team, Ellie Lawrence and Tim Atlas went head-to-head with the song "Sweater Weather" by "The Neighborhood." During their rehearsal, the two showed that they both had their own strengths. Gomez commented on the strength of Lawrence's control, while Stefani complimented Atlas' rhythm. The performance led to Stefani deeming Lawrence as the winner. Fortunately for Atlas, Pharrell was keen on stealing him.

Pharrell's team featured Celeste Betton and Mark Hood, who performed "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." It was shown that Elliot had cried when both artists performed during the rehearsal. The two presented a performance unlike any other, complementing each other well. Stefani even commented that it was the best battle she has ever seen. With the tough decision, Pharrell chose Hood.
