'The Young and the Restless' Casting News, Spoilers: Michael Muhney's Mother Addresses Adam Newman Rumors

"The Young and the Restless" fans are still anxiously awaiting news surrounding Michael Muhney's firing and his role as Adam Newman on the soap opera.

The actor was fired from the role amidst sexual harassment accusations late last year, and the star has not appeared on "Y&R" as Adam since January. Months after the character's disappearance, it was revealed that Adam is alive when his hands were revealed. However, "Y&R" showrunners have not been able to reintroduce the character since they reportedly cannot find a replacement actor for Muhney.

Ever since his controversial firing, Muhney has remained mum on his involvement with "Y&R," especially on the rumors suggesting that he would return to the role of Adam. However, Muhney did share cryptic tweets earlier this year, including the message: "Benjamin Franklin said it best. 'Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see' … and that quote doesn't only apply to what is being said about ME. It also applies to others. Please be kind to everyone. #respect"

Today, Muhney has rejoined Twitter after a brief hiatus, but he is still not addressing the "Y&R" rumors. Fortunately, Muhney's mother reportedly informed fans about Adam Newman this week.

"I hate to dash anyone's hopes, but those aren't Michael's hands on Y&R," Muhney's mother tweeted on June 17, according to Celebrity Dirty Laundry. "His tweets have NOTHING to do with the show."

The actor's mother went on to clear up the persistent rumors that Muhney had groped his co-star Hunter King ahead of his firing.

"Michael gave the answers to his exit in his last interview," she wrote on Twitter. "As to tumors - gossip rags quoted an anonymous fan who posted on a message board. Silly. There's never a need to comment on rumors. They're neverending!"

Meanwhile, "Y&R" fans remain divided over Muhney's split, with many boycotting the soap and campaigning for showrunners to rehire the actor in the role of Adam.
