'This is Us' News, Updates, Spoilers: Why the New NBC Dramedy Could Be the Next Big Thing

NBC's highly anticipated new dramedy series, "This is Us," has yet to air, and already throngs of fans jumped onboard following the release of its first trailer in May. Since its debut on Facebook, the trailer has since garnered 64 million views, thanks largely to the palpable chemistry between costars Mandy Moore and Milo Ventigmlia.

The two stars play onscreen couple Jack and Rebecca, who are first seen in the "This is Us" trailer delivering triplets in the hospital. What was supposed to be a happy occasion for the both of them quickly turned dark, however, when one of their triplets died.

"This is Us" leading actress Mandy Moore said while this tragedy will mark them forever, it would also help them get closer to each other. Which is an important thing for excited viewers, who have already seen the connection between both actors.

Mandy Moore is all praises for her leading man, saying Milo Ventigmlia is a "consummate professional." She said she had "lucked out" in Milo, whom she found to have an immediate, intimate connection with. Milo Ventimiglia, on the other hand, called Mandy the "kindest, most talented and beautiful soul" he'd ever met - and that viewers would immediately fall in love with her in their upcoming show (if they aren't already, that is).

What's coming for "This is Us"

"This is Us" follows a set of five strangers who share the same birthday. It jumpstarts on the characters' 36th birthdays, and will eventually find their lives intersect with each other. There's Jack (Ventigmlia) and Rebecca (Moore); Randall (Ron Cephas Jones), a successful businessman looking for his father; sitcom actor Kevin (Justin Hartley); and Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Toby (Chris Sullivan).

Because of this, people are already expecting huge things from Dan Fogelman's (Crazy, Stupid Love) handiwork. In fact, SpoilerTV has already gotten its hands on the pilot release, and had commended it for being "easily one of the best pilot episodes ever."

Sean Candon of SpoilerTV praised the stellar performance of each cast member, and called particular attention to People v. OJ Simpson star Sterling K. Brown for his stirring performance as Chris Darden. Overall, Candon promised a well-thought out "This is Us" pilot episode: with moments of levity amid sadness, as well as an unexpected twist during the episode.

With such positive feedback even before airing, "This is Us" is already beginning to make television viewers' list. Luckily for us, the wait won't be that long - NBC's new dramedy will premiere Sept. 20, Tuesday.
