'Thor: Ragnarok' News, Spoilers: Mark Ruffalo Calls Film 'A Road Movie;' Odin's Role Revealed?

After last being seen bidding Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) farewell in "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (2015), The Hulk/Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) makes his next big screen appearance in 2017's "Thor: Ragnarok," the third installment in Marvel's "Thor" series of films starring Chris Hemsworth in the titular role.

Ruffalo recently opened up to Empire about the forthcoming film and said, "There's a little bit of 'Midnight Run,' with [Charles] Grodin and [Robert] De Niro." "I feel like that's kind of where we're heading with this relationship between Thor and Banner," he added.

The 48-year-old actor explained: "It is a universal road movie – that's where we're heading. It's not where you'd think it will be, so it's not your classic road movie but it has that structure, I think."

According to Ruffalo, the reunion of Thor and The Hulk in "Ragnarok" was partially driven by the characters' on-screen chemistry in previous Marvel Cinematic Universe films. "I love Chris [Hemsworth], and it's not an accident that we've been put together because we have a good time together and we goof off," Ruffalo said. "The fact that we're moving towards the smart-comedic bent plays into our relationship."

Meanwhile, Geek.com has just published a major spoiler regarding Odin (Anthony Hopkins), whose fate was left in question at the end of "Thor: The Dark World" (2013). According to the website, sources with connections to the film say that Odin is still alive and will appear in the third "Thor" film. After Loki (Tom Hiddleston) replaced him on the throne, the All-Father is said to have fled to Midgard, where he is wandering the streets as a hobo, warning people of the impending apocalypse.

Apart from Hopkins, Cate Blanchett is also rumored to appear in "Thor: Ragnarok." The award-winning actress may play a villain from the "Thor" comic books called Hela, the Asgardian Goddess of Death. There has been no official announcement on whether any of the other actors from the two previous "Thor" films, including Natalie Portman and Kat Dennings, will be back for the third installment.

"Thor: Ragnarok" is being helmed by "What We Do In The Shadows" director Taika Waititi and will be filmed in Sydney.

The film hits movie theaters on November 3, 2017.
