Tim Tebow Foundation Receives $200,000 Donation From Denver Mattress

The Tim Tebow Foundation received a $200,000 donation from the Denver Mattress Company, it was revealed on Thursday. The money will be directed to orphanage services worldwide.

"We feel fortunate and blessed to assist those in need and to make a positive impact in the world," said Dan Visser, president of the Denver Mattress Company.

NFL quarterback Tim Tebow commented: "I am passionately driven to make a difference in the lives of people who need it most and with the help of great people and amazing companies like Denver Mattress, we will make a difference."

Denver Mattress managed to make the contribution through the Tebow Foundation's "Your Dreams Improve and So Do Theirs" campaign. The company donated $15 for every mattress sold between May 16 and June 13, marking the third consecutive year it has been able to reach its fundraising goal.

The Tebow Foundation was created in 2010 with a mission to bring "Faith, Hope and Love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need." The popular Christian athlete explains on the official website for the group that it was his parents who instilled in him the importance of God's word from an early age, as well as the responsibility to give back to others.

"This foundation and all of our outreach initiatives were primarily created to show God's love to children around the world," Tebow says.

An outreach program of the foundation, called the W15H program, helps children with life-threatening illnesses to meet Tebow at one of his games or a post-season event by providing families with airfare and all the necessities needed to make the meeting come true.

"I think that the joy that a child brings to a situation really is infectious to Tim," Erik Dellenback, executive director of the Tim Tebow Foundation, said in an interview last year with The Christian Post. "There's nothing quite like being around a child who, all in one, can bring you incredible perspective and yet bring you great joy because of their joy."

Tebow is currently trying to make the New England Patriots' 53-man roster for next season, after being released from the New York Jets at the end of last season. An online poll of over 8,000 votes shows that the majority, or close to 70 percent of respondents, believe the Christian athlete will indeed be able to make the team.
