Tim Tebow News: Former Quarterback to be Inducted Into Hall of Fame

Tim Tebow will soon be inducted into the Florida Sports Hall of Fame. He will be one of the five sporting legends to be inducted in the fall as part of this year's class.

Through a press release, the organization confirmed that Tebow, along with Warrick Dunn (football), Chipper Jones (baseball), Tim Finchem (PGA Tour Commissioner), and Coleen Walter (LPGA), will soon be joining the Hall of Fame class.

"Without question, this is one of the most talented, eclectic and accomplished classes in Florida Sports Hall of Fame history," Barry Smith Florida Sports Hall of Fame President said in a statement. "The contributions these individuals have made within their chosen sport, to their communities, the nation and indeed on a worldwide stage, demand recognition and we are honored to welcome them as the newest members of the Florida Sports Hall of Fame."

Given his record with the Florida Gators, it is more of a surprise that it took this long for him to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

During his time with the Gators, Tebow was able to win two national championships and the 2007 Heisman trophy. He completed 66.9 percent of the passes for 3,286 yards and made 32 touchdowns. He also holds a record of 210 carries for 895 yards and 23 scores.

At that point in time, Tebow made NCAA history as the only player to total 30 passing touchdowns and 20 rushing touchdowns all in one season.

After his three-year stint with the NFL, including his time with the Denver Broncos and the New York Jets, Tebow turned to a different sport, baseball. Tebow is currently with the St. Lucie Mets, where he was promoted to High-A.

Tebow and the rest of the sporting legends will be inducted on Wednesday, Nov. 8 in Ponte Verde.
