'Timeless' Season 2 Air Date, Spoilers: Wyatt to Get His Heart Broken Again

Wyatt's (Matt Lanter) bad luck in love may continue in the next season of "Timeless."

Many fans of the NBC series are crossing their fingers that the blooming romance between Wyatt and Lucy (Abigail Spencer) will finally happen. In a February interview with Deadline, co-creator and showrunner Shawn Ryan revealed that he and Eric Kripke have already been discussing the storyline they want to include for the two main characters. The next installment, he said, would immediately answer the cliffhangers in the previous season's finale.

"Certainly, at the end of the season finale Wyatt seems to have had a big change of heart in terms of looking forward (towards Lucy?) rather than looking back (towards his deceased wife). The two seem to be on a romantic collision course, but we'll use this hiatus to discuss if, and how quickly, that's something we want to explore," Ryan told Deadline.

The romantic tension between Wyatt and Lucy has not gone unnoticed by the fans. A lot of them have been rooting for the two to finally break the barrier and admit they have feelings for each other. Most of the qualms in having a new relationship are with Wyatt, who has yet to fully move on from the memory of his dead wife. There have been times when he seemed to be ready to forget, but something always seems to hold him back. Lucy, on the other hand, has been waiting for any hint that Wyatt likes her too.

Unfortunately, their potential romance will be facing a huge hurdle so early on in the game when it is revealed that Lucy is meant to be part of Rittenhouse. According to spoilers, her mother, Carol (Susanna Thompson) has been training her for the position since she was a little kid. It seems Lucy will have to decide, once and for all, if she is prepared to betray her family because of her love for Wyatt.

NBC has yet to announce the renewal of "Timeless."
