Tom Clancy's The Division Release Date: Beta Version Launching March 2015?

It's been a while since anyone has heard of any updates regarding Ubisoft's upcoming and much-anticipated game, Tom Clancy's The Division. The game is promising to be an open-world shooter where players can team up online in an MMO style environment. There has been no news about the game's official release date, but gamers are speculating on a March release.

Rumors are suggesting that a beta version of the game exclusively for Xbox One will be released by March. Industry insider and avid gamer Shinobi602 tweeted the announcement back in November and he wrote, "The Division beta in March. Coming to Xbox One first."

Though a beta release is a welcome development, Ubisoft has been silent about the game's actual release date. According to MoviePilot, a report claims that the game was nowhere near ready in May earlier this year, and an anonymous spokesperson from Ubisoft reportedly said, "The game engine works well, it's not done, but works well. The actual game development has barely started, however…"

In an interview with Gamespot earlier this year, Ubisoft Massive managing director David Polfedt talked about the game's delay to 2015.

"One thing that I would really like for this industry to be able to talk about is the difficulty of predicting [release dates]," said Polfedt.

"Because we often talk about dates, but the reality—and this is really coming from the trenches—is that if you have a project with say 400 people on it, you're working on a fairly new piece of hardware like the current-gen, and you're trying hard to be the best game ever, and you want to do 90+ [Metacritic], the reality is it's very hard to do that," he continued.

"It's like if I were to ask you to become a professional athlete. Yeah, you could become an athlete, but when will you be ready? It's a really hard question," Polfeldt added.

Tom Clancy's The Division will be released this year for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
