This shouldn't surprise anyone who is following the Android games industry this year. Pokemon GO became a phenomenon as soon as it was released. Created by Niantic, Pokemon GO smashed records; becoming the fastest mobile game to have reached $500 million in profits.

Around the world, 500 million unique gamers played Pokemon GO. The game is poised to becoming bigger than it already is with its latest update: 100 new Pokemon (Legendary and normal), player-vs-player battles, player trades, raising your Pokemon, and more.

This much anticipated update will make Pokemon GO even more successful than it already is.

2. Clash Royale

Clash Royale was created by the same company who developed Clash of Clans. It is free to download and to play, although there are items that you can purchase using real cash.

The game involves real time duels with players from around the world. It has become so successful that some players are willing to spend a huge amount of cash just to become the best at it. In fact, the best Clash Royale player in the world, a YouTuber who published videos of his games, has spent nearly $12,000 on the game.

3. Traffic Rider

Traffic Rider is the third most popular Android game this year. It has a rating of 4.7 among user reviews, which is pretty high when it comes to driving games.

In this game, you basically race against time through a straight road as you overtake other cars, being careful not to crash into any of them. Some reviewers commented about how addictive the game is and how realistic it is in terms of how it feels a lot like actually driving.

4. slither.io

Slither.io is so popular that it once even topped Snapchat as the most downloaded free application in the App store.

Slither.io resembles the old game Snake or Centipede by Atari. The goal of the game is to eat as many glowing lights as you can, making your worm longer. However, there are other worms out there, and you have to crash into them to eat them, or you get eaten.

5. Dream League Soccer

Dream League Soccer is a football simulation app. The aim is to rise from the lower ranks to become the best in a fictitious league consisting of teams from the actual Euro League, among others.

The controls for this game are simple enough; pass, cross and shoot, but the gameplay is good enough and the animations provide lots of variety for fun gaming.
