'Transformers 5' News: Michael Bay's Return and Rumor on Optimus Prime's Good-Bye Sparks Debate

In what could be one of the most controversial films in the "Transformers" franchise, fans and critics of the critically acclaimed franchise alike are debating on Hasbro's decision to reinstate Michael Bay for the fifth movie.

During the MIP Junior Conference, Stephen Davis, resident of Hasbro Studios and Entertainment, announced that Bay will be back with the coming of the fifth "Transformers" movie. According to Comic Book, he also confirmed that writers assigned for the franchise have actually produced enough "material" that solidifies the coming of four more sequels.

Davis mentioned that one of the writers working on the sequels is Akiva Goldsman, the widely celebrated Academy Awardee who penned the iconic storyline for "A Beautiful Mind."

On the other hand, some critics may not have liked the idea of Bay once again being in charge of directing the next movie. Inquisitr points out that many critics disdain Bay's work, which resulted to huge fight scenes that seem to give viewers a hard time to tell which robot is which. The outlet further explains that the movies under Bay's command tend to produce dialogues that seem to have not been given enough time to be written.

While Hasbro has confirmed the disliked director's return, the release date has not been announced, meaning it has yet to be declared if Bay will be the director or if he will be one of the producers or even a member of the crew.

Meanwhile, fans are starting to get disappointed, years before the fifth movie releases, after a rumor surfaced stating that their beloved and most popular robot, Optimus Prime, will be retiring soon after "Transformers 5."

Some outlets suggest that it may be time to give the warrior his retirement plan since new bots will be joining the cast anyway, including Blitzwing, Override, Red Alert, Scourge, and Cyclonus. On the other hand, other movie agencies hinted earlier that Optimus Prime will be engaged in a battle against the Quintessons.

Known as the originators of "autobots," the Quintessons will be fighting for their chance to take over Optimus Prime's regime.

"Transformers 5" is expected to release either later 2017 or early 2017.
