'True Detective' Season 2 Release Date, Cast Rumors: 2 More Actors Added to Show

With Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn already confirmed to take up the lead roles for the upcoming second season of "True Detective," new names have sprung from the rumor mill pointing out two more actors slated to join the cast of the hit crime drama series.

Lolita Davidovich and James Frain are said to have just landed recurring roles in the HBO anthology series, according to Ace Showbiz. "Cinema Verite" star Davidovich will take up the role of a mother to Taylor Kitsch's State Trooper character.

She is described as "a girly girl, a former showgirl continually sucking on cigarettes and margaritas as she mourns the loss of male sexual attention. What little of her hopes remain she has transferred onto her adult son, who, in her eyes, is God's gift to women," Deadline reported.

The cast rumor also pointed out Frain's role as Jeff Hunt, a "ruthless police lieutenant."

Screen Crush meanwhile dished out some information on what fans should expect when the series returns in the small screen.

They said that the sophomore season will follow the "death of a corrupt city manager in a fictional California city, amid a groundbreaking transportation deal that would drastically change the state."

Moreover, three certain enforcement officers hailing from different cities and their respective government branches are tasked to investigate the demise of the city official. Their investigations will lead them to even "broader and darker" issues which they never expected in the first place.

"True Detective" Season 2 is said to be currently in production just in time for a premiere showing in the summer of 2015.
