'True Detective' Season 2 Release Date, Spoilers: More Spooky Stuff Coming, New Composer for Soundtrack

HBO's highly-rated crime drama series "True Detective" is slated to return with another brand-new series with new lead characters, according to reports.

More from the grapevine suggest that there will be more "spooky stuff" that fans can expect when season 2 premieres. In a report by What Culture, they pointed out a scoop from HitFix.com where show writer Nic Pizzolatto spoke about a "secret occult history of the United States transportation system" as its prime element.

"I need to keep being strange," Pizzolatto was quoted as saying.

The show's brain further revealed that the season will primarily take place in California in exception of Los Angeles in favor for lesser-known regions of the state.

"We're going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambiance of the place, much like we did in Season 1," Pizzolatto said.

Meanwhile, T Bone Burnett, who was also credited in creating a "foreboding atmosphere" of the show by producing a unique original score, is reported that he will not return to make the soundtrack for Season 2.

The previous member of Bob Dylan's touring band is rumored to be replaced by Trent Reznor or the classical composer Howard Shore as well as techno-style synthesizers The Dust Brothers and many more.

T Bone's exit perhaps makes sense since the next season will be shifting both in location and theme from "country stuff" to the rock and roll bustle of California.

As for the development of the second season, HBO programming director Michael Lombardo told THR that, "We're going to start shooting in September for it to air next summer." That's in 2015.
