When Hollywood Reporter asked show creator Nic Pizzolatto to verify the aforementioned plot line, he refused to comment on it, saying that season two is still a "work in progress," and that if he talks about what he's doing he loses the urge to do it.

As for casting the second season, it remains to be seen as to who will be appearing on the show, but insiders are speculating that Colin Farrell, Taylor Kitsch, Vince Vaughn and Elizabeth Moss could be cast.

Recently, Moss addressed the casting rumors, saying that she has not been approached by HBO or "not in the way everyone is talking about."

However, the actress hinted that she would be happy to be part of the show.

"For me as an actor who's been in this business for over 25 years, it's so flattering to be associated with that show, for anyone to think that I can be part of that show," she said.

"True Detective" Season 2 is slated to premiere on early 2015 on HBO.
