'Twin Peaks' Cast Rumors: Revival Series Looking for Unknown Actors

There has been a scarcity of news about the development on the revival project for the cult-classic mystery drama TV series "Twin Peaks." Lately, however, it was found out that the reboot program is actually looking for actors that are new to the industry.

Kyle McLachlan's Special Agent Dale Cooper will "encounter a fresh crop of quirky locals (this is in addition to lots of familiar faces)" in the new installment, according to TV Line.

According to the publication, series creator David Lynch is "adopting a rather unorthodox audition process" to find these "new oddballs."

"Rumor has it he's asking prospective new cast members to prepare and perform a lengthy monologue about themselves. Also, he's specifically looking for interesting, character-y, preferably unknown actors," the media outlet continued.

On related news, it was previously revealed that the reboot series is actually being pushed back to a 2017 premiere outing rather than the rumoured 2016 airing.

This intel was clarified by the series co-creator Mark Frost during an interview with National Baseball Hall of Fame's senior curator, Tom Shieber.

"A lot of people always look back at 'Twin Peaks' and say that was the start of this explosion we've had in good television drama, but we did it in a time when there were still only three networks," said Frost. "The challenge for us is to try and come back and raise the bar above what we did the last time. We're coming back with season three of 'Twin Peaks' after a 25-year absence. We've finished the scripts, we start production in September, and that will be coming out on Showtime sometime in 2017."
