Super Typhoon Nepartak Wreaked Havoc Friday Morning Causing Injuries, Damages and More Possible Deaths
On Friday morning, July 8, 2016, Typhoon Nepartak made landfall on Taiwan along its eastern coast bringing super strong winds of up to 234km/h.
Taiwan's first major tropical storm arrived in Taiwan around 5:50 a.m. Typhoon Nepartak's landfall has caused various injuries and structural damage along its path. The typhoon is said to be heading towards China.

Taiwan officials have issued an alert that Typhoon Nepartak will be in Taiwan for eight hours, The Guardian reported. They added to prepare for any kind of emergency.

Typhon Nepartak Casualties, Injuries, Damages
Taiwan's Central News Agency reported that more than 65 people have been injured in Taitung in Taiwan, where the typhoon first made its landfall. Most of those affected sustained injuries on their limbs and heads due to the destructive strong winds of Typhoon Nepartak. The winds also caused glass to shatter and roofs being uplifted from structures.
The death toll of people who have died due to Typhoon Nepartak is so far two. One soldier died from being swept away by strong winds near the Matsu islands of the country. Another person was believed to have drowned at a beach but eventually died.
Thousands of Taiwanese troops have been dispatched to help out in the evacuation efforts. Evacuees have been placed to safer locations and other shelters. International and domestic passenger airline flights have also been delayed and cancelled, Time noted. Additionally, more than 200,000 homes in the country currently have no electricity.
Typhoon Nepartak Path Forecast
Typhoon Nepartak is 200km wide and is moving at a speed of about 17km/hr northwest heading towards China. The typhoon is expected to make a landfall in the country by Saturday morning. Chinese authorities have ordered trains and boats be kept safe in preparation of the coming of the storm.
As typhoon Nepartak gets closer to China, heavy rain and strong winds have prompted landslides in the north-western part of the country. According to Xinhua.net, 35 people have died as a result of the landslide. Houses were buried along with the occupants in the mountain village in China's Kashgar prefecture.
The country is expecting heavy flooding as well. CNN reports that Shangahi, Fujian, Jiangsu, Anhui and Zhejiang will mostly be affected by the storm.
