UFC News 2015: Rockhold Wants Rematch Against Belfort, Aldo-Edgar Rematch To Be Made If McGregor Goes Up To Lightweight

The newly crowned UFC middleweight champion wants to fight Brazilian MMA legend and former heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort next. On the other hand, UFC president Dana White announced that a rematch between Frankie Edgar and José Aldo would be slated if Conor McGregor decides to move up in weight.

On Saturday night's co-main event bout at UFC 194, former Strikeforce champion Luke Rockhold was able to batter former champion Chris Weidman to win the UFC middleweight gold. The American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) fighter beat up the former champion to a bloody mess, which resulted to a fourth round stoppage.

Now that he is the champion, Rockhold says the first order of business is to avenge his 2013 loss against "The Phenom", Vitor Belfort. The Brazilian mixed martial arts veteran won the said fight via first round knockout, courtesy of a spinning heel kick.

It was Rockhold's second career defeat and his first loss in seven years. In a report by MMA Fighting, Rockhold says he wants Belfort "on a silver platter".

"I gotta right my wrong. What can I say?" he simply said, according to the report.

Rockhold boasts a 15-2 record, with thirteen victories by knockout.

Meanwhile, UFC president Dana White has laid out his Plan B, if undisputed featherweight champion Conor McGregor does decide to make a move up to the lightweight division.

In another report by MMA Fighting, the outspoken UFC executive says a rematch between Aldo and Edgar would be made, with possibly the featherweight title on the line.

"I don't think he wants to make [145] anymore. I think he's looking to move up to 155 pounds," White said on ESPN, according to the report. "Obviously, if that happened you'd probably do Edgar vs. Jose Aldo for the title."

Edgar has been on a five-fight winning streak since his loss to Aldo in 2013. His most recent fight ended in via first round knockout against two-time title contender Chad Mendes on Friday, at the Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale.

However, in a recent report by Fox Sports, McGregor says, "I tell you one thing that won't be happening -- if I go up to that lightweight division, there's no way in hell that I'm vacating my belt." He goes on to say, "That's not happening."
