'Umbra' News: Customizable Action RPG Now on Kickstarter

Independent game developer, SolarFall Games has started its crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter for a new action role-playing game it would like to develop, called "Umbra." As the campaign entered its fifth day, it has so far raised $115,000 of the $225,000 it is targeting to raise. it has also be "Greenlit" on Steam, according to reports.

"Umbra" as the IGN report describes it, is a hack and slash open world role-playing game which is being built using CryEngine3, a game engine that allows for "managing physics, animation and particle effects." The game's main distinguishing factor, according to its Kickstarter page as well several reports, is that it is fully customizable, giving players a dynamic gaming experience.

"Umbra aims to deliver an intense and rich action RPG game. Personalization of your character build is free, deep and highly customizable, and many secrets are hidden in the world," the game's Kickstarter page reads. Players will be able to create their own house, customize their walls and doors, and add different types of furniture. Weapons are customizable too -- "hilts and blades can be changed and tweaked" until the player is happy with the weapon. Players can also attach different types of armour pieces to their characters left or right arm.

One special feature of the game is the Apocalyptic Form, which is said to grant the player a unique identity. This unique identity is based on how the player plays the game from the start and what kind of decisions they make along the way. This Form is granted at higher levels and is dependent on the player's story and play style.

The game has multiplayer mode, which allows players to visit other players' homes. It also has cooperative play and the ability to create custom dungeons as well as a competitive mode which is Players vs Players vs Artificial Intelligence.
