Uncharted 3 Release Date: Subway Promotion Allows PS3 Gamers to Unlock Multiplayer Early

The highly anticipated Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception will launch for the PS3 on November 1 and fast food giant Subway is already cashing in on the games franchise's enormous amount of success.

With the purchase of a 30 ounce drink, customers will be given a code to unlock the competitive multiplayer from the game a month in advance.

Uncharted players will also be able to unlock Subway-based perks and clothing including a baseball cap with the sandwich vendor’s logo and similar looking t-shirt.

“The full competitive multiplayer experience, which begins Saturday, October 1st, at 12:01am Pacific Time, will give you the chance to dive into the fun and get a head start on leveling up your profile while learning all of the new UNCHARTED 3 multiplayer maps before the full game is released on Tuesday, November 1st,” wrote Arne Meyer, the community strategist for Naughty Dog on the PlayStation blog.

Subway has launched various television and internet ads promoting Uncharted 3.

In some of the ads the game's main character, Nathan Drake appears with a Subway sandwich in one hand and a drink in another.

Other notable items to unlock in the game with the promotion include Naughty Dog weapons, sandwich treasures, plastic cups, and a taunt that lets you show your “Five Dollar Footlong” impression.

Players will also be able to start racking up points and perks, which can carry over after the promotion ends.

Subway is looking to keep its customers ahead those who are waiting until the game is released in November.

Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception is the sequel to the critically acclaimed Uncharted 2: Among Thieves for PlayStation 3.

Uncharted 2 was crowned game of the year in 2009 by multiple video game media outlets.
