'Uncharted 4' PS4 Release Date News: December 2015 Touted for Launch

With news emerging that the "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" launch may be pushed back beyond the earlier rumored date of June 2015, some are even reporting that a release could come even as late as December 2015.

Sony Computer Entertainment has noted the release date for the action-adventure third-person shooter game, "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" as Dec. 31, 2015. Game Stop has announced the development on its online store, urging fans of the series to pre-order the platform video game before it sells out. Gamers will know that when Dec. 31 is listed as a release date it generally just means that the game could come any time in that calendar year, meaning the game could in fact still be launched weeks or even months earlier than that Dec. 31 date.

"Unchartered 4" is set three years after the events that occurred in "Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception" released in 2011.

The fourth series, "A Thief's End," sees fortune hunter Nathan Drake settling down to a normal life until his late older brother, Sam, comes back from the dead to turn his world upside down. The pair journey on a mission spanning several continents in the search of a long lost pirate colony with its tales of treasure.

According to Naughty Dog, "Uncharted 4" will offer gamers the kind of CGI visuals previously seen only in Hollywood films.

"Based on the quality, the detail, the blend shape, the color, everything that we put on the character this is basically a film character to me," Frank Tzengi of Naughty Dog revealed in a CG Master interview. "So to me, videos games are getting really close to film quality, and this is exactly what I wanted to do."

Helmed by "The Last Of Us" director Neil Druckmann, "Uncharted 4" is said to be able to give players more tactical freedom in a larger gaming environment without forcing gameplay options on users, like the first three editions of the game did.

The official launch date announcement is expected to be made at the Electronic Entertainment Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center in June 2015.
