University of Houston Uniform Prank: Football Coach Unveils Ridiculous Jerseys (VIDEO)

A University of Houston uniform prank managed to fool the entire football team into believing their new outfits would look like low-quality practice jerseys for a peewee league team. The Cougars coach, Tony Levine, is notorious for pulling stunts like this, but players were still caught off guard.

The University of Houston uniform prank began with Coach Levine addressing the entire team and the media, saying he wanted to talk about "rumors" with the team.

"There's been a rumor going around that during some point this season we're going to wear a different uniform. Well that rumor is true," he said.

For Halloween on Thursday, the team will be wearing a different uniform for their televised game against USF at Reliant. The game will air on ESPN 2, and for the occasion, Coach Levine had a mannequin covered with a sheet rolled out. Players were excited with anticipation to wear something besides their traditional red and white uniform.

However, when the coach finally unveiled the uniform, it looked like basic lettering and the furor in the room quickly died down. Then another player walked out of a side door wearing what would be the team's official Halloween jersey: a shiny red helmet with the UH logo, stripes of black and red digital camouflage, brand new Nike cleats and red lettering with white and black trim.

The team cheered raucously for the new uniform, but the coach had to confirm his prank landed.

"Raise your hand if I got you with this uniform," Coach Levine said, gesturing to the fake one on the mannequin. Many hands shot up.

This isn't the first time he's pranked his players and the media. On April Fools' Day last year he pretended to move star running back Charles Sims to cornerback, letting people think he was a novice at coaching.

The University of Houston's uniform for Halloween is available for fans via auction that will run up to Nov. 10 on UHCougars.com.
