Valentine's Day Sees Megahurch Pastors Tweet Their Love

Twitter has become the modern-day equivalent to the classic conversational candied heart on Valentine's Day, allowing users to offer a sweet, brief message telling that special someone how much they care. Megachurch pastors are no exception.

It seems everyone this year is taking to the social media platform to tell their loved ones, including close family, friends, and thousands of fellow Twitter followers, that they are special.

Rick Warren, senior pastor of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, Calif., tweeted the importance of remembering God's love on this special day.

"'I love u because..' or 'I love u IF..' are both conditional love. 'I love u despite..' is unconditional -how God loves you," Warren tweeted late Monday night.

Warren is currently considered one of the most prominent Christian megachurch pastors, and his church is currently ranked the eighth largest church in the United States.

Mark Driscoll, senior pastor at Mars Hill Church based in Seattle, Wash., tweeted early Tuesday morning: "We love because [God] first loved us. – 1 John 4:19."

Driscoll and his wife, Grace, recently released their book Real Marriage: The Truth About Sex, Love, and Friendship Together, which offers Christians a guide on how to live their married lives to the fullest, while maintaining their relationship with God.

T.D. Jakes, pastor of The Potter's House in Dallas, Texas, even offered his Twitter followers a last minute gift option, telling them: "If u need a last min V-Day gift for your special someone download 'Sacred Love Songs 2' from iTunes."

Jakes' megachurch attracts 30,000 members. The popular pastor is to appear on Oprah Winfrey's special, "Oprah's Next Chapter," sometime in the upcoming months.

Although not blatantly Valentine's Day themed, megachurch pastor Joel Osteen did offer some words of encouragement on Tuesday, maybe for those who are feeling glum this Feb. 14.

"Today, you can beat anything that comes against you. Nothing is too difficult for God," Osteen tweeted Tuesday morning.

Osteen is the senior pastor at Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas. He has also been interviewed by Oprah Winfrey on her show, "Oprah's Life Class."

Although the pastors remain discrete on their Valentine's Day plans, their Twitter posts prove that they wish all of their followers feelings of love on this special day.
