Vanessa Bryant Wouldn't Marry Someone Who Can't Win Rings - Sparks Twitter Debate

Vanessa Bryant, the wife of five-time championship winning Los Angeles Lakers' guard Kobe Bryant, is reportedly admitting that she would not marry an athlete that could not win championships, and said that she expects one to be in her home every year.

According to Nicki Jhabvala of Sports on Earth (via The Basketball Jones), Vanessa recently spoke to New York Magazine about championships equating happiness in her marriage. Although the interview has yet to be published, a portion of Bryant's alleged statements have been circulating the internet.

"I certainly would not want to be married to somebody that can't win championships," Vannesa reportedly said. "If you're sacrificing time away from my family and myself for the benefit of winning championships, then winning a championship should happen every single year."

While Vanessa's comments made their way to the debate desk on ESPN's popular show "First Take" many people took the conversation to Twitter.

One person questioned why love was not a factor in Bryant's statements.

"Vanessa Bryant says she wouldn't want to be married to someone who didn't win championships," the person tweeted. "Does it matter if u really love dude??

Other people accused the woman of being a gold digger.

"Vanessa Bryant with the biggest 'gold digger' statement of the decade," another person tweeted.

Still, others questioned if the woman needed to be taught a lesson.

"Does Vanessa Bryant have ANY IDEA, how difficult it is to win a title," one person questioned on the social networking website. "I mean, this is ridiculous, she needs to be taught a lesson."

The Bryants met when Vanessa was an 18-year-old backup dancer in a music video. After six months, a 21-year-old Kobe proposed to her.

The pair have been married for 10 years and overcame a highly publicized sexual assault charge against Kobe in 2003. However, Vanessa filed for divorce from her husband last December after rumors of infidelity, and later decided to reconcile their differences months later.
