Vernee Apollo – The Other Smartphone With 6 GB of RAM

After the Vivo Xplay5 Elite, another not-so-known Chinese manufacturer is releasing the only other smartphone so far powered with 6 GB of RAM. Vernee, a Chinese start-up smartphone company, will be unveiling its flagship phone called Apollo, along with two other devices, one called Thor and one that was not yet specified. According to a Tech Times report, the company will be launching said devices sometime in April.

The Apollo, according to the company's website, touts 6 GB of RAM which is paired with a powerful processor, MediaTek's latest one, the Helio X20 (MT6797). MediaTek unveiled its newest processor recently in China, according to the report. The Helio X20 is a deca-core or ten-core processor. There are rumors and reports however, that MediaTek's latest chipset is plagued with overheating problems. The report speculated that either this problem has been solved by MediaTek or Vernee has found a way to cool down the processor.

The device's design is all-metal, and according to a Gadgets 360 report, it also sports a 5.5-inch screen with Quad HD display. The device's touchscreen is also said to be equipped with Force Touch which provides better touch functionality options. Camera set-up will be a 21-megapixel rear-facing camera with a Sony IMX230 sensor and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Internal storage is pegged at 128 GB, with no information about expandable storage options. Like most flagships, it will have a USB Type-C port for fast charging and faster data transfer. It will also come pre-installed with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The Tech Times report cited that while the device may read like a very powerful smartphone, its performance would still have to be gauged after the device has been released and a decent hands-on has been done. Given that the company is a relative unknown, consumers may not likely grab the handset unless it has proven to be a powerful handset.
