Vikings Season 3: 'Even More Epic Than Season 2,' Says Actress

"Vikings," a Canadian-Irish television series, is set to premiere its third season during the summer of 2015. The History Channel renewed the series for a 10-episode return March 25 earlier this year.

During the San Diego Comic Con earlier this year, several of the cast members and a number of the production crew made their appearance and held a panel. Yahoo! TV held an interview with cast members, revealing a number of details regarding the third season.

"It's only going to get grittier, and I think that's why fans are absolutely in love with it right now," one of the cast members, Alexander Ludwig, explained. Ludwig plays as Bjorn in the series.

Katheryn Winnck, who plays as Lagertha the shield maiden, expressed her excitement over the next season and revealed some details about the fight scenes as well.

"Season 3 is even more epic than Season 2. If you thought you loved Season 2, Season 3 just takes it to a whole new level," Winnick said. "We had some shield maidens last year that went into full-on martial arts training just to understand how to hold a sword properly, just so that they could be background actors."

The creator of the show, Michael Hirst, had also said that the vikings could attack Paris in the upcoming season.

"Yeah, we're gonna attack Paris. Paris was the most extraordinary city. It was still a Roman city, and it was like nothing else on earth. We're just building that, at the moment, on the backlot. It will also be CGI. Ragnar attacked Paris with one hundred ships," he said in the interview with Collider earlier this year.

There are also rumors about at least one fan-loved character in the series will die in Season 3. All the rumors point to Kevin Durand's character, the Wanderer. Durand had already spoken about the death of his character but there may still be others who will be killed off in the upcoming season.
