Wal-Mart Bathroom Meth Lab Stumps Police

A make shift meth lab found in an Alabama bathroom has left police puzzled over the ingredients used to make the meth.

A cleaning crew discovered a make shift meth lab in a Wal-Mart bathroom on Saturday morning in Alabama. The crew found a Nestle water bottle and packs of pseudoephedrine in the women's bathroom, prompting them to contact police. Police later confirmed that meth residue was found on the water bottle left behind at the scene.

The method used to make the meth is referred to as "shake and bake" or the one-pot. With this method, meth can be made by using household items to create a chemical process that heats when shaken. Pseudoephedrine is then added and left sitting until "baked," a process which takes over 40 minutes.

While all meth labs are dangerous, this method had been reported to be increasingly explosive. Police who are investigating the site are also stumped as to why the person making the drug chose to use a Wal-Mart bathroom. Boaz Police Chief Terry Davis reported that the brand of pseudoephedrine use was not sold at Wal-Mart stores.

The restroom was located at the front of the store. Since only the left over residue was found in the bottle, police believe the suspect used the meth immediately before leaving the store.

A meth high consists of an often euphoric feeling that is supplied by a sense of accomplishment or simply a lack of feeling altogether. Over time meth addicts typically become delusional and tend to lose their sense of self-care. Like many drugs, users often require increased doses of meth to continue to feel a high.

Five empty packs of pseudoephedrine were found left in the bathroom, which could signify a very strong doe of meth. A police investigation concerning the matter is currently under way.
