The Walking Dead Season 3 trailer will have to appease America's growing fascination with all-things zombies for now.

Comic-Con attendees were treated to a sneak peek of the AMC hit drama based on the comic book series by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard this weekend. Season 3 picks up where the previous season left off with the group divided after walkers attacked the farm. At the end of Season 2, survivors of the attack gather on a highway as a prison looms nearby. In Season 3, the survivors will find the prison that could serve as their new shelter. Main character Rick declares, "This prison is ours."

In the series, main character Rick Grimes wakes up from a coma to discover a post-apocalyptic world dominated by "walkers," or zombies. He searches for his family and meets other survivors along the way.

The finale of Season 2 was the most-watched basic cable drama in history, with 9 million viewers, according to Nielsen ratings.
