Walmart Glitch Makes Video Games $18, HDTVs $8.85; Thousands of Online Orders Canceled

A costly glitch at Walmart caused the company to perhaps lose millions of dollars as pricey merchandise was selling for up to 90 percent discounts on the franchise's website.

Brand new video game's were selling for just $18.03 when normally they are anywhere from $39 to $59. Games such as Battlefield 4, Pokemon X and Y, WWE 2K14, GTA 5, Infinity, and Madden 25 were affected.

HD flat screen televisions were selling for $8.85 when they are regularly around $600.

The error occurred Wednesday morning and Walmart has since fixed the glitch and canceled all the online orders from yesterday.

"The issue has been resolved and Walmart.com is open for all," Walmart spokesman Ravi Jariwala said to ABCNews.com. "Given the wide discrepancy in pricing, we are notifying customers who ordered these items that their orders have been canceled and that they'll be refunded in full."

"In addition, we will send these customers a $10 e-gift card that can be used toward future purchases at Walmart stores and Walmart.com," he said.

Walmart has also claimed that the whole problem was a glitch and not caused by a hacker.

"We experienced a technical error that caused some items to show incorrect pricing. We are working quickly to correct the error and during this time, there may be intermittent site availability. We apologize for any inconvenience to our customers," the spokesman said. "I want to make very clear this is not a hack. This is an internal technical error."

ABC News reports that a Louisiana Walmart experienced a similar problem a few weeks ago when there was a problem with the food stamps.

Account limits disappeared to shoppers using the stamps could buy hundreds of dollars worth of food with no need to stop.
