What Was God's Purpose for Esther?

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him . . . Romans 8:28

Esther was good at keeping secrets. She was a young girl, who lived a long time ago in Persia. The Bible tells how she was chosen to be the queen. Queen Esther had a secret that not even the king knew. Her uncle, Mordecai, had warned her not to tell that she was Jewish.

A proud man named Haman worked for the king. He liked to have people bow down to honor him. Mordecai refused to bow to anyone but God. Haman was angry. He learned that Mordecai was Jewish. Haman made a terrible law. On a certain day, all of the Jewish people would be killed.
Mordecai told Esther about the law. He wanted her to get help from the king, but, Esther was afraid. If she went to the king without being invited, he could have her killed. Esther told Mordecai she couldn't do it. Mordecai sent a message back to her telling her that God may have made her queen for such a time as this.
