Easter 2017: Washington, DC School Holidays for Spring?

Washington, D.C. will once again be hosting a number of Easter-themed events this year, and it helps to know when schools in said state will be out so as to effectively plan for some recreational activities during the upcoming holiday.

Approximately, Easter holiday in Washington, D.C. begins on April 8 until April 23, but most public schools will be having their spring recess from April 17 to April 21. It helps to cross-reference these dates with those officially set by one's school to make sure before planning one's spring break adventures.

Washington, D.C. is a popular spring break destination for students and families who live in said state or are visiting from out of town. Aside from the annual Easter-themed activities, the state also offers an opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors and to check out some of the city's famous historic landmarks. Additionally, the state also hosts the National Cherry Blossom Festival from late March to mid-April.

Students and their families can have wholesome fun during spring break in Washington, D.C. The day can begin with an Easter brunch in many of the state's finest restaurants, which often offer family-friendly buffet feasts. There will also be a sunrise service at the Lincoln Memorial, which will be held on Easter, April 16 at 6:30 a.m. EDT.

Then, on April 17, the annual White House Easter Egg Roll happens from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EDT, with an Easter egg hunt, a visit from the Easter Bunny and other family-oriented activities on the White House lawn.

More Easter egg hunts are organized at other venues around the capital region including in museums, hotels, parks and even in country farms. There will also be a Family Celebration at the Smithsonian's National Zoo on April 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. EDT.
