Wimbledon 2013 Finals: Andy Murray Takes the Title

In Sunday's men's finals, Brit Andy Murray defeated Novak Djokovic of Serbia and was crowned the champion of the 2013 Wimbledon tournament.

Djokovic was the top seed for this year's tournament and he won Wimbledon in 2011, making Murray the underdog. But it was a victorious day for that underdog, as Murray beat him in tough fought games, winning 6-4, 7-5, and 6-4.

Murray was elated with the win, and saw it as a comeback from his performance at last year's Wimbledon.

"It feels slightly different to last year. Last year was one of the toughest moments of my career, so to manage to win the tournament today … It was an unbelievable tough match, so many long games," the champion said directly after the match to BBC.

Murray's mother also believes that this win is a career-changing win.

"I think it was a turning point in some ways. He had chances in the final last year and let it get away. I think every time you have a really tough loss, a loss that really hurts you, you learn a lot from it about how to handle the occasions better going forward," the tennis champion's mother Judy Murray said.

Novak Djokovic was humble and respectful in his loss.

"The bottom line is that [Murray] was a better player in decisive moments. He was all over the court," Djokovic said. "Even though when I was putting my first serves in he was always getting them back in the court and making me play an extra shot. That's why he won this tournament," Djokovic said of his opponent.
