Britain has gone Wimbledon crazy to support their home player and tickets for Center Court have been exchanging for more than $6,000.

Murray has told the BBC, "The one thing I can guarantee is that I'll fight my absolute heart out. I need to give everything I have from the first point to the last."

He added, "I'm going to need all the help on Sunday because it's a massive challenge to win against Roger.

"I hope that all of the crowd is with me. It's been great so far, they've helped me out through some tough moments the last couple of matches, and I'll definitely need it again on Sunday."

British Prime Minister David Cameron has said: "[It is] great news that we have our first home-grown men's finalist at Wimbledon for over 70 years, especially in this exciting Olympics year when the eyes of the world are on the UK."

Alex Salmond, First Minister of Scotland, also added his support for the Scottish Murray: "The whole of Scotland will be right behind Andy on Sunday, and I'll be there in person to help cheer him on."

Murray is the first British player to even reach the Wimbledon final since Bunny Austin in 1938 - they have had players making it through to the semi finals on numerous occasions but have always fallen short of making the center piece showdown.

Future queen Kate Middleton will be in attendance at the final in the Royal Box, but the Queen herself, and husband Prince William will be unable to join her.

Meanwhile, Roger Federer will be ignoring the hype around Murray and will be looking to claim his first Wimbledon title since 2009. He will be out to prove that he is not a spent force as some critics have suggested in recent years, and he will be entering the match as a hot favorite.

Federer has been in seven Wimbledon finals prior to this, winning six of them, with his only loss coming against Rafael Nadal in 2008 in one of the most memorable Grand Slam finals of all time.

Federer has said in the run up to the final: "I always say, in whatever country I am, I like to play the local hero and Andy is exactly that at Wimbledon.

"I hope I have some crowd support, but it's not the most important thing right now."

Interestingly Andy Murray has the better head to head record between the pair, winning 8 and losing 7. However, Federer has won when it has most mattered; in the 2008 U.S. Open final and the 2010 Australian Open final he beat Murray in straight sets.

In fact in Grand Slam finals Murray has a horrid record, playing in three finals and losing them all, including a 2011 Australian Open final against Novak Djokovic. However, many believe it is only a matter of time before Murray breaks his Grand Slam duck, and believe that when he does he will go on to win numerous Grand Slam titles. But playing in an era with Federer, Nadal and Djokovic means he will never have an easy route to claiming a Grand Slam, and that has been the case until now.

In recent weeks Andy Murray has spoken of being inspired by LeBron James, and the NBA star has thrown his backing to Murray, tweeting, "Good luck at Wimbledon. Will be rooting for U."
