Windows 10 Mobile build 10536 adds new Photos app feature

Microsoft has finally released an update to Windows 10 Mobile for Windows Insiders, and the latest preview of the mobile operating system includes a new requested feature for the Photos app.

The updated Windows 10 Mobile build's new features suggest that Microsoft wants its users to have better photo management experience on their phones. The 10536 preview build for Windows Phone handsets, which was rolled out on Sept. 14, now has an improved Photos app plus other new features, according to NDTV.

The new Windows 10 Mobile preview comes a little over a month since Microsoft first rolled out the test build 10512, ZDNet reports.

Microsoft said some of the new features of the Windows 10 Mobile's latest build include user-requested improvements. The Photos app now has more organized folder view to let users access OneDrive and PC files from the app itself. They can also see files saved in the external storage from the same app, the report details.

In a blog post, Microsoft Corporate Vice President Gabriel Aul said users will also be able to view context menus in the Photos app. In addition, the photo viewing process has been made faster. The new features added to the app are all geared toward enhanced user experience, Aul added.

Those who want the new Windows 10 Mobile features have to sign for Windows Insiders. Then, they need to download and install the most recent preview of the OS on their smartphone. Lumia 1020 owners, however, are instructed not to use the 10536 build because there are some features that are not available for the phone on the developer preview, the report relays.

Aside from the improved Photos app, the new Windows 10 Mobile build also includes a one-handed mode feature. This feature was first released for devices with large displays but is now available to smartphones with smaller screens.

In addition to the aforementioned features, the updated Windows 10 Mobile preview now has a patch for the mobile hotspot functionality and an added support for English in India to the voice input. It also has re-added the Insider Hub, fixed the two-factor authentication, quiet hours, and the Maps' pinch and zoom functions.

Microsoft is expected to release the final version of the Windows 10 Mobile for new Windows Phones and some of the older Windows Phones this fall.
