Windows 10 Release Date, News: OS Coming Late Summer or Early Fall 2015

It seems like Windows users have to wait more for the release of Microsoft's Windows 10 OS as reports now indicate that the operating system won't arrive until the late summer or the early fall of next year.

Microsoft Chief Operating Officer Kevin Turner said that although the Redmond-based tech giant is on track to release its next major platform, users need to wait "either late summer or early fall next year" for it to roll out.

Developers, however, may get to see the upcoming update sooner as the developer's preview version of the OS will be unveiled "in early summer," according to BGR.

PhoneArena.com reported that Microsoft has already did some "internal testing" on Windows 10 for smartphones. The site even went to confirm that all Lumia smartphone devices currently running on Windows 8 OS "would be updated to Windows 10" as soon as the new system is released publicly.

The site also said that most non-Lumia WP 8 handsets will likely also get the Windows 10 update.

"But we can't be sure of that just yet," Phone Arena explained.

ZDNet also contributed to the report saying that an initial preview for the Windows 10 mobile SKU will be showcased by Microsoft in an upcoming event that will take place later in January 2015. They further said that the mobile OS will not exclusively work on Windows Phones but on ARM-based and Intel-based tablets as well.
