Wladimir Klitschko vs. Tyson Fury: Klitschko Admits Being Too Hesitant During Fight

Former long-time heavyweight world champion Wladimir Klitschko continues to reevaluate his most recent fight against newly crowned champion Tyson Fury.

The two heavyweights faced each other in November 2015 in Dusseldorf, Germany, where Fury emerged victorious via a wide unanimous decision margin. Fury bagged the WBO, IBF, IBO, and WBA (Super) world titles from "Dr. SteelHammer," who held the said belts for nine years.

In a report by Vadim Pushkin for Boxingscene, Kiltchsko, who was described as "inactive" during the fight, shut down rumors about his alleged injury during a camp leading up to the bout, along with talks of him being out of shape.

Klitschko first noted that he was "in the best physical shape of his life," noting that it was rather an issue of his psychological state.

He added that he was unable to hit Fury with the right punches since he was also in disarray, emotionally.

"I had to work on instinct, that killer instinct," Klitschko explained, according to the Boxingscene report. "I kept waiting for something and the opportunity to fix things. I got uncomfortable, and all of this has caused some fatigue, discouragement, and even confusion."

Fury, who is 12 years younger than Klitschko, also holds a significant four-inch reach edge. This is one of the factors many have deemed to have put the Ukrainian boxing veteran at a great disadvantage.

For his part, Klitschko does believe that while size and frame did play a huge role, it was Fury's style that also became bothersome for him.

Describing Fury's style as "awkward," Klitschko says his corner was expecting the first three punches to miss, while the next fourth or fifth to land, but instead, saw a more "precise" approach from the then challenger.

Klitschko has decided to exercise the rematch clause stated on the pre-fight negotiations. The said bout is scheduled for a still undetermined date for this year.
