A woman has found $36,000 at a Miami golf course, but has decided to return the large sum of cash to its rightful owner rather than keep it for herself, saying that she is Christian and that the Bible teaches "do not steal."

The Florida woman, Rachel Castillo, has explained that as she grew up she was always taught to "do what's right," and that her Christian faith was central to her doing the right thing. So when she found the $36,000 at the Miami Beach Golf Course she had no thoughts of keeping it, but instead went about trying to find the owner.

Castillo is an employee at the golf course and works serving drinks to the golf players that visit the course.

She was notified that a bag had been left behind, and when she opened the bag she saw huge bundles of cash stacked inside.

Stunned, Castillo took a closer look, and also managed to find an ID of the owner of the bag too.

Castillo explained: "I believe in the Bible. I'm a Christian, and the Bible says, 'Do not steal, do not lie,' you know, all these things, and if you do what's right, if you live the right way, you'll be taken care of. I believe I'll be taken care of … if you do what's right."

The golf course employee turned the bag over to police, identifying the owner for them from the ID, and police are now working on returning the money to the 76 year old man who apparently left the huge sum at the golf course.

Miami Beach Police Sgt. Bobby Hernandez has admitted that he has been amazed at Castillo's honesty, and that she is a hero in his book. He said that it's "nice that there's people out there" like Castillo.

Hernandez has said: "Well, he is in an assisted living facility right now. He might have a medical condition. That's undetermined. We are in touch with the family members getting more information, but we have identified that money as his through different transactions that he made."
