'Wonder Woman' movie plot news: Production to start soon

Now that the upcoming DC movies "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and "Suicide Squad" are scheduled for release next year, new details about the new DC film "Wonder Woman" have been released.

Wonder Woman will be another addition for the DC Cinematic Universe. However, the character of Wonder Woman will make her debut in the film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Production for the film is expected to begin in a couple of months with a stellar team. It was reported that Patty Jenkins from "Monster" will be directing the film. She will be accompanied by Will Westenhofer from "Life of Pi" in the visual effects department. It was also confirmed that Hoyte Van Hoytema will be joining the team as the cinematographer, as reported by Screen Rant.

Hoytema has been working on successful projects such as "Let the Right One In," "Intwrstellar," and the upcoming James Bond film "Spectre." Wonder Woman will be filmed in Basilicata, Italy in order to make use of the ancient architecture. It was reported that the movie will focus on the origins of Wonder Woman, also known as Diana Price. Rumors state that the movie will be set in Themyscira, which is Wonder Woman's home. It was reported that there will also be scenes referring to the World War I or World War II. This was speculated after the release of Wonder Woman in battle with World War soldiers.

However, the portrayal of Gadot's Wonder Woman had enraged several fans. DC's Grant Morrison himself commented on Gadot's portrayal. He stated, "I can understand why they're doing it, I get all that, but that's not what [Wonder Woman creator] William Marston wanted, that's not what he wanted at all! His original concept for Wonder Woman was an answer to comics that he thought were filled with images of blood-curdling masculinity, and you see the latest shots of Gal Gadot in the costume, and it's all sword and shield and her snarling at the camera. Marston's Diana was a doctor, a healer, a scientist."

Wonder Woman is expected to release on June 23, 2017.
