Cortana Xbox One Release Date News: Coming in 2016 - Preview and Official Launch Info

Xbox fans expecting Cortana to be included in next month's New Xbox One Experience will have to hold their breath until next year.

Microsoft said Cortana will not be added to the New Xbox One Experience that will be released next month. The Windows 10 digital assistant will be officially launched for Xbox One in 2016, according to the Inquisitr.

"For those who have asked about Cortana, our plan is to add Cortana to the Xbox One experience preview later this year," the Inquisitr quotes Xbox programming director Larry Hyrb's announcement on his blog. "From there, we'll ensure that the experience is tuned for gamers before we officially launch Cortana in 2016."

Based on Hyrb's "Major Nelson" blog, the New Xbox One Experience is the "fastest" interface that they have come up with. Those who have enrolled for the preview were asked to watch out for the build on their console, PC Mag reports.

Hyrb's announcement came as a disappointment to Xbox fans because they have been expecting the Microsoft digital assistant to be included in the biggest console update. Some of the changes include improvements in user interface, Xbox One performance, and lots of new features, the report details.

Since most Xbox One consoles still do not have live Kinect and microphone, it will take a while before Microsoft will be able to integrate Cortana into the system smoothly.

The New Xbox One Experience will be able to reach more members of the Xbox Preview Program this weekend. The company will continue to release the update to more members batch by batch until all who want to be included in the group are already in.

Since the initial release of the update in September, several patches for bugs and issues have already been rolled out, the report adds.

Microsoft will officially launch the New Xbox One Experience in November and will add Cortana for Xbox in 2016.
