Xiaomi Mi Edge release date & specs update: Rumored to feature a curved display

While Xiaomi fans are looking forward for the release of the high-end Xiaomi Mi5, the Chinese tech company is rumored to be working on a handset dubbed as the Xiaomi Mi Edge. According to NDTV Gadget, a new leak emerged containing details of Xiaomi's first dual-edge display smartphone.

The device, which is reported to launch sometime in October this year, is Xiaomi's curved display smartphone and is rumored to come with the same outer form factor of the current Redmi Note. It has also been noted by Phone Arena that Mi Edge's design might look like the design of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge or the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ because of the curved edge on both sides of the handset.

The rumored look was first noted when Weibo tipster @KJuma and website MyDrivers.com posted to the public leaked specs and images of the handset allowing fans to see what they may expect from the upcoming device. It is said to come with a 5.2-inch dual-curved edged screen that is bound around both sides of the phone with a 2K (2560x1440p) QHD resolution display and a sharp 565ppi pixel density. It will sport a metal chassis which will also most likely mean that it will be covered with metal shell.

It is also expected to be powered with a 64-bit class Qualcomm Snapdragon 80 Hexa-core SoC (System on Chip) and the Adreno 418 GPU. It will be packed with a 3GB or 4GB RAM and finger-printer sensor. Furthermore, fans can enjoy snapping photos with its 16-megapixel rear camera that may possibly come with an Optical Image Stabilizer. The details of the front camera are not determined yet.

Fans speculate that the new Xiaomi Mi Edge may cost around 2500 yuan or $359. But things will remain as a rumor for now until Xiaomi will announce the confirmation regarding this amazing unit.
